What causes hair loss?

Hair loss is a multi-faceted, common and for some embarrassing issue – There are numerous factors attributing to hair loss such in men such as  heredity baldness, hormonal changes, medical conditions or aging.

At Project Alpha we understand that a full head of hair makes a man feel younger and generally better about himself. With 1 in 4 men aged 30 and older in the UK experiencing hair loss we understand that it is a massive issue for many. The most common type of hair loss is MPB (Male Pattern Baldness).

In patients with MPB we see an issue with the hairs natural growth cycle slowing down, producing shorter and finer strands of hair. Eventually, the growth cycle for each hair ends and no new hair grows in its place causing hair loss.

If you feel that you might have any of the above symptoms, take our 10 questions ADAM Test today to get a quick understanding of whether or not you might be suffering from Low Testosterone.

Project Alpha’s team have extensive experience in hair loss treatments, you are in safe hands with us. In our experience the best all-round treatment for male pattern baldness right now in the UK is Finasteride. Finasteride comes in the form of a tablet that is taken daily and works by blocking the action of an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase. This enzyme is responsible for converting testosterone to another hormone in the body that then causes hair loss in males.

83% of men taking Finasteride say their hair loss stopped after taking the drug with another 65% seeing hair regrowth after their initial hair loss. Importantly Finasteride does not cause additional body hair growth, it only stimulates hair growth on the head.

As with most treatments, it’s important to get help as soon as you start noticing the problem, so do not delay – press the button below to speak with one of our hair loss specialists today.

Testosterone levels are estimated to decrease by 1 percent annually after age 30 to 40. Therefore, lower testosterone levels are more common among older men.
