What is TRT (Testosterone Replacement Therapy)?

TRT is an acronym for testosterone replacement therapy, sometimes called androgen replacement therapy. It’s primarily used to treat low Testosterone levels, which can occur with age, the result of a medical condition or because of a genetic disposition..

TRT is becoming increasingly popular due to an increase in awareness about the symptoms of low testosterone. Men who are looking to optimise their hormone levels can expect the following benefits from TRT:

  • Enhanced sexual performance.

  • Higher energy levels.

  • Overall mental and physical well being.

  • Increased recovery from physical exertion.

Symptoms of Low Testosterone

Testosterone is the male sex hormone that is made in the testicles. Testosterone hormone levels are important to normal male sexual development and functions.

During puberty (in the teen years), testosterone helps boys develop male features like body and facial hair, deeper voice, and muscle strength. Men need testosterone to make sperm. Testosterone levels generally decrease with age, so older men tend to have low blood testosterone levels.

Some men have naturally low testosterone levels. This is called Testosterone Deficiency Syndrome (TD) or Low Testosterone (Low-T).

  • Reduced sex drive.
  • Reduced erectile function.

  • Loss of body hair.
  • Less beard growth.
  • Loss of lean muscle mass.
  • Feeling very tired all the time (fatigue).

  • Obesity (being overweight).

  • Symptoms of depression.

If you feel that you might have any of the above symptoms, take our 10 questions ADAM Test today to get a quick understanding of whether or not you might be suffering from Low Testosterone.

What is Hypogonadism & Will TRT Help?2021-09-20T12:43:54+00:00

Hypogonadism is a condition where the body doesn’t produce a normal amount of testosterone. This also applies to sperm production as well.

TRT is used to re-introduce testosterone into the body without spiking your levels too high and causing negative side effects.

TRT is an extremely effective tool in combatting the issue of having lower than normal levels of testosterone.

Utilising methods of micro-dosing to effectively mimic the body’s natural production of testosterone will help to fight against hypogonadism.

It is commonly believed you are either born with hypogonadism and that you can’t develop the condition later on in life.

This isn’t true, and you can develop this condition at any stage of life.

What are the side effects of Testosterone Replacement Therapy?2021-02-22T15:22:36+00:00

Two of the most common negative side effects of TRT are Testicular Atrophy or shrinking of the testicles and reduced fertility. At Project Alpha we also have a solution on hand. We use a combination of HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) and HMG (Human Menopausal Gonadotropin) to not only maintain the size but also the function of the testicles during your treatment.

Another side effect that can occur in some men is an increase in Estrogen in the body, this is due to the body’s need to try and balance serum hormone levels in the blood. At Project Alpha we recognise the importance of balance in the Endocrine system, too much Estrogen and you can suffer from water retention, tiredness, belly fat, poor erection quality and low libido, moodiness, Gynaecomastia (man boobs), loss of lean muscle mass and depression.

Too little Estrogen can cause decreased sex drive, excess fat around the belly, bone loss and osteoporosis. Thats why its so vitally important for us to create a bespoke and Gold Standard TRT plan for our patients, using regular blood tests and if necessary Aromatase Inhibitors, which reduce the amount of Estrogen in your body – we are able to keep all your hormone levels optimal and you at your best.

Does Project Alpha use premium testosterone, or the cheaper testosterone?2021-02-22T15:22:51+00:00

In the UK, Testosterone is usually administered via Intramuscular Injection this is because the NHS and most men’s clinics only prescribe the cheaper Testosterone Enanthate solution, which comes in a thicker alcohol heavy oil so needs a much bigger needle to stop irritation at the injection site.

Project Alpha is committed to providing only the best Gold Standard treatment for our patients, so we use the more expensive Testosterone Cypionate, which comes in a much thinner oil that can be injected subcutaneously (into the belly fat) from a very small needle with virtually zero pain.

The general perception from the Public is that using a private medical facility is expensive and, in certain circumstances, they would be correct. However at Project Alpha we believe that it is a man’s right to feel like a man and as such we aim to not only provide the best possible TRT Protocols available, but starting from just £20 per week, also make our treatments affordable.

We offer two base levels of Testosterone, each package also has bolt ons depending on your own circumstances and clinical need.

Sustanon (Mixed Ester Testosterone) – Can be injected intramuscularly (larger needle directly into the muscle) or subcutaneously (smaller needle into the belly fat).

This testosterone blend contains short, medium and long term ester’s which absorb into your body at different rates, this needs to be injected a minimum of twice a week, however a dosing schedule of three times a week would be optimal to maintain steady blood serum levels of testosterone.

Due to the oil this medication is suspended in, you may experience slight pip (stinging of the injection site) however this is only temporary.

Alpha +

Testosterone Cypionate – Can be injected intramuscularly (larger needle directly into the muscle) or subcutaneously (smaller needle into the belly fat). Imported directly from America, testosterone cypionate is seen as the Gold Standard in testosterone replacement therapy.

This medium ester testosterone is carried in a thin oil making it very easy to inject subcutaneously. It also only needs to be injected once per week – however twice per week is optimal.

Fertility Bolt On

Combination of HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) and HMG (Human Menopausal Gonadotropin) delivered in micro dosages to maintain or improve the size and function of the testes whilst on TRT.

Anti-Estrogen Bolt On

Arimidex delivered in low doses to keep estrogen under control if your blood work shows that you are prone to high Estrogen levels or you are experiencing any estrogenic side effects whilst on TRT.

Testosterone levels are estimated to decrease by 1 percent annually after age 30 to 40. Therefore, lower testosterone levels are more common among older men.
